Health & Medical
There are 19 trained Emergency Medical Technicians and First Responders operating 2 ambulances and a rescue unit for medical emergencies through Garfield County Fire District. All emergencies are routed through Garfield County’s Enhanced 911 Service. Garfield County Hospital District maintains a 14-bed facility with Emergency Room, acute care, physical therapy and lab services. Memory Manor is a 36-bed full-service nursing home facility, with 8 beds available in the Gentle Care Unit. Garfield County Hospital District also maintains Pomeroy Medical Clinic with a physician and two nurse practitioners on staff.
Civil Services
The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department provides police service for the City of Pomeroy and Garfield County with Washington State Patrol servicing the Highway 12 corridor. A Search and Rescue Team and Sherriff’s Posse also operate in emergencies. Garfield County Fire District is staffed by over 20 volunteer firefighters throughout the county.
Business & Labor Market
With the opening of Columbia Pulp, employment growth is expected within Garfield County. Lower Snake Wind Projects have increased the overall number of jobs in the community. Agriculture and wholesale trade will continue to be the cluster that provides the most private sector jobs. Major agricultural commodities will remain in production as long as there is demand and proper weather conditions. Government employment is the leading employing industry.

Garfield County is serviced by both the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport and the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport.
Inland Port Facilities
The Port of Garfield manages industrial sites within the city of Pomeroy, as well as property on the Snake River.
Motor Freight
U.S. Highway 12 bisects Garfield County east-west, connecting to Interstates 82, 84 and 90. Several major motor freight companies service Garfield County including Baker Truck Lines, Swift Transportation and Consolidated Freightways. Express services are available through national carriers.
